Third base remains problem for Braves despite impressive legacy

Image
Third base in Atlanta has seen some of the greatest players ever, but the Braves are still searching for stability at the hot corner. The Atlanta Braves have been to the bottom, have stripped their team to its core of Freddie Freeman and Julio Teheran , and bet their entire future on their farm system. A farm system that, even after suffering loss of players after the IFA sanctions handed down by Major League Baseball, is thriving and is still overflowing with talent. The Braves are nearing the end of this long and rocky rebuild as the future stands on the forefront in Atlanta with players like Ozzie Albies , Ronald Acuna, Luiz Gohara and many more ready to push the team back into contention. Now, Braves fans have been spoiled in the past with the team winning and even making the playoffs for an unprecedented 14 straight seasons from 1991 to 2005 so this new territory of losing seasons has been hard. Something Braves fans are even more accustomed to is good play from their third ...

The longtime Braves are working to remain within the organization as instructors. David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that longtime Braves players turned coaches Terry Pendleton and Eddie Perez are discussing deals to remain within the franchise as roving instructors, mainly in the minor leagues. Will Ronald Acuna be on the Braves’ opening day roster?

Image
Will Ronald Acuna begin the season at Triple-A? Our roundtable series continues with one of the biggest questions facing the opening day roster. What will the Braves do with Ronald Acuna? Our writers weigh in below and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments. If you missed our first roundtable session, you can find it here . Will Ronald Acuna be on the Braves' opening day roster? Ivan: Nope. Alex Anthopoulos has already laid the groundwork for keeping him down in the minors until (at least) an extra year of control is gained, and as such I’d expect to see him in mid-late April at the earliest. Scott Coleman: I don’t think so, and it’s the right move to keep him in Gwinnett for at least a few weeks. He doesn’t even have 500 plate appearances between AA/AAA and I would much rather have another cheap season of Acuna at age 27 than have him start 2018 on the opening day roster for a team currently projected to win 76 games or so. Sam Meredith: No, unless he has ...

BRAVES NEWS Adonis Garcia has deal with Korean baseball team, per report The Braves got a little thinner at third base on Wednesday, when it became official that infielder Adonis Garcia would be leaving the club for Korea. Garcia had been an inconsistent contributor for Atlanta over the past two-plus seasons, but he did resurrect what looked to be a broken career at 31-years-old, earning an opportunity to further a career in the majors and now in the KBO. Best of luck to Adonis, wherever his career takes him in the future. Baseball Hall of Fame Voting: Chipper Jones leading early returns As frustrating as the Hall of Fame voting can be, it seems that the writers have gotten one thing right this year: having Chipper Jones as the leading vote-recipient, at least to this point. Chipper would currently be part of a huge Hall of Fame class, with four others currently s...
