Garcia and Atlanta are discussing terms of release

Adonis Garcia’s time as a member of the Atlanta Braves is likely coming to an end after reports surfaced that he’d agreed to a deal with a team in the Korean Baseball Organization. Now Gabriel Burns of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that the Braves and Garcia are currently discussing the terms of release so that he’ll officially be free to ply his trade in Asia.

Pendleton and Perez may return to organization as instructors

Meanwhile, two former longtime coaches with the Braves may be coming back into the fold after a brief time away. Terry Pendleton and Eddie Perez were both replaced on the coaching staff during the shake-up that occurred earlier this offseason and now David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is “hearing” that the two coaches could return to the organization as roving instructors for the minor leaguers.

Hosmer-to-San Diego rumors may be farfetched

Let’s be real, here: This has been an extremely slow offseason for the entirety of baseball. There have been precious few rumors to latch onto so far during the offseason and it’s gotten to the point where we’re starting to hear the phrase “fake news” being used when it comes to rumors surrounding Eric Hosmer. MLB Network stated that the Padres were ready to offer him a six-year deal worth $120 million, but Royals Review took a look at the rumors and realized that something was off.

So [ESPN’s Buster Olney] is saying that there was some buzz that the Padres were considering making a six-year, $120 million offer at the Winter Meetings back in early December. But now they have a deep split of opinion. That got misinterpreted by MLB Network as the Padres were ready to make that offer now. And local news stations ran with it.

There is a lot of pressure to pass along the latest information, and innocent mistakes get made all the time (especially here!) Perhaps the Padres are prepared to make Hosmer an offer, but there doesn’t seem to be any hard reporting of that at this point. Instead, it appears as if an elaborate game of “telephone” has been played, where a whiff of a rumor has become twisted into news.

Sano accused of sexual assault by team photographer

It would have been nice to talk about the trade rumors surrounding Miguel Sano but instead, the Twins third baseman is currently in the news for all of the wrong reasons. A team photographer has accused Sano of sexual assault and posted a detailed account of the incident (which took place in 2015) on her Twitter account. The team has posted a statement that withed comment “until further information is gathered.” Also, if you’re going to discuss this then please be civil about it and don’t follow in the footsteps of some of the bad apples who are currently going mad over at Twinkie Town.
